GO GREEN
Reduce & Recycle
Our expo will have recycling and compost bins as well as garbage bins located conveniently throughout the event hall. We encourage all of our attendees and exhibitors to utilize the recycling facilities when possible to greatly reduce the volume of garbage that will be put into the landfill.
With the generous assistance of DNR AmeriCorps, Metro Waste Authority and Recycle Me Iowa, Shelly Codner, Area Resource Specialist for the Iowa Waste Exchange is serving as the sustainability coordinator for this year’s event and will be onsite throughout the event to answer questions or assist you with your waste reduction and recycling needs. If your company produces hard to place materials outside of the event venue or have other needs regarding reducing, reusing, recycling and renewing you may contact Shelly at (319) 404-1942, scodner@region12cog.org.
As an exhibitor, you can assist in making this a sustainable event by considering the following:
Use eco-friendly materials and energy efficient lighting in your display. Not only will these create a visible example of sustainability it will reduce costs associated with one-time use items. If you have to use disposable items use items manufactured from recycled materials or items that are compostable.
Give promotional items that are made from sustainable and recycled raw materials. Avoid packaging and disposable materials when selecting promotional items.
Use “green printing” for display and marketing materials. Select papers made from recyclables and sustainable inks such as soy-based inks.

Exhibitor Recycling Service
Brown paper bags will be available upon request for recyclable materials produced during the show. Please place all recyclable items in this/these bags and place them by the recycling stations located throughout the venue before the show, throughout the show and following the show. In addition, volunteers will be onsite during setup to assist you in collecting cardboard and other recyclable materials.
Take pride in your green efforts. Let attendees know about your efforts by using recognizable terms such as “Zero Waste”, and/or other taglines that demonstrate that organizers are not only teaching others to “walk the walk”, but are doing it themselves.
